Inspiring minds, shaping character, serving humanity — rooted in 500+ years of Jesuit legacy.
St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad, established in 1955, offers programmes in Arts-Humanities, Sciences, Computer Sciences and Commerce. Being one of the first colleges in the state of Gujarat to have been accredited by NAAC in the year 2001 with five stars, it has thereafter been an impetus to maintain a continuum of quality education and grow with every accreditation and the Autonomy status. The academic autonomy has allowed the institution to foray into higher realms of education.
Jesuit education is rooted in the 500+ years old Ignatian pedagogy. It is a heritage of educating and caring for the whole person, preparing students to become persons for and with others, with well-developed minds, generous hearts and reflective souls that find God in all things. It focuses on the concept of ‘more’ with the pursuit of excellence in everything that they do. The Jesuit legacy of academic excellence requires students to go deeper, think critically and solve problems creatively in the service of humanity.
To build a more inclusive and humane society by accompanying the youth journeying through higher education; to inspire them to deepen their self-understanding, to develop a critical understanding of reality and a passion for the common good, to become sensitive to the poor and vulnerable and take care of the environment.
"Excellence interpreted in terms of putting skills at the service of socially discriminated groups."
The goal of St. Xavier’s College is to provide students with an environment for the all-round development of their mental, physical, aesthetic, social, and spiritual potential, together with an attitude of integrity, hard work, honesty, fairness, and tolerance so that they always give their very best. To set up a society where all have equal opportunity as children of God.
To provide access to excellence in academics, research and service learning to all strata of society with special attention to marginalized groups, discriminated people, and victims of social and economic disparity.
